Rules of engagement

Domain Wars is deterministic. The board shows the exact price and visible outcome before checkout, with no chance, wager, cash prize, or material prize.

01

Spawn

$5 minimum stake

A domain with no territory may claim any available tile. The selected target stake becomes that tile's stake.

02

Expand

$5 minimum stake

A domain may claim an empty tile directly above, below, left, or right of its territory. Diagonals do not count.

03

Attack

Current stake + $5

A domain may take an orthogonally adjacent rival tile by selecting at least the displayed minimum target stake. Ownership changes immediately after verified fulfillment.

04

Fortify

Pay the increase · $5 minimum

A domain may raise the stake on any tile it already controls. Only the difference between the old and new stake is charged.

Exact deterministic pricing

Choose the visible result before checkout

  • Target stakes are whole-dollar amounts from the displayed minimum through $10,000.
  • Spawn, expansion, and attack charge the selected target stake. Fortify charges only the increase.
  • The target tile, exact amount, resulting owner, and resulting stake are locked before hosted checkout opens.
  • Rank impact is a projection from that board snapshot; another completed move may change the live ranking.
  • There is no chance, wager, cash prize, material prize, automatic bid, or losing bid.
  • The previous controller and listed project receive no payment, refund, or revenue share from a move.
Winning the board

How the King is chosen

  1. 1. The largest orthogonally connected territory ranks first.
  2. 2. A tie goes to the connected territory with more defense value.
  3. 3. If still tied, the project that achieved the score earlier stays ahead.
  4. 4. An exact tie falls back to the project UUID in ascending lexical order.
Timing and checkout

Season controls

  • Standard seasons run for 7 days.
  • A selected tile may be reserved for 10 minutes while checkout is completed.
  • Checkout closes 5 minutes before the season ends.
  • These locked prices and timing rules apply to every active board.

What a qualified visit means

Every public project link records a privacy-safe visit before redirecting to the stored destination. Domain Wars adds its source tag when the destination supports it.

  • Counted: a browser visit that passes the qualification checks.
  • Excluded: obvious bots and repeat visits from the same visitor to the same project within 24 hours.
  • Public: only the qualified visit total shown on the live board and project page.
  • Online now: an approximate count of anonymous open board connections, not a historical visitor total.
  • Private: bounded coarse attribution used for abuse review and aggregate product analytics.
